20060703 Home, hair, and disappointing appointments

20060703 Home, hair, and disappointing appointments

Saturday dragged us once again to the Land of Impending Poverty, Home Depot. Talesia's bathroom was long ago ravaged by a pack of wild dogs (ok, puppies), and it's high time to rebuild the walls... and the wallpaper...and the door frame... So we left with less money but drywall, scrapers, paint, and a few other essential items. Soon the walls will be repaired, the wallpaper will be removed, and the paint will be applied with perfect precision... right? Talesia wants rainbows, so she picked a beautiful Diamond blue for the color, and we will attempt to hijack someone artistically inclined to help with the actual rainbows.

The Cut-A-Thon benefit for our badly burned friend Randy (who just had skin grafts) did not draw nearly the crowd we had hoped and expected, but the money raised did, I'm told, bring tears to his eyes (or was it just the pain from the physical therapy?). One friend was kind enough to donate her time and salon time to cut hair, and Talesia looked beautiful with her french braid with flowers, but we had hoped for more turnout. I'm not sure everyone would have applauded our rendition of Hair! though.

This morning I followed the referral from my primary care physician and dutifully went to the opthalmologist. You just have this insurance, they queried? Um, yeah, came the stupified reply. (I had already faxed my insurance information to them earlier.) We don't take that for medical, only for vision. You have a vision plan, so your eye exam would be covered, but not removing the cyst, that's medical, we're not part of that plan. Okay... Back to the PCP. Call here, they said. Nope, they don't take it either. Hmm. Well, you can wait until Wednesday when our referral lady gets back. What, they have a person whose only job is to deal with this, and they expect me to figure it out??? So we wait. Good thing I'm not crippled in agony with this thing!
