Getting to know YOU
I would like to post some of the more interesting or very common answers I have gotten to some of the questions I have posed.
I liked this one: Vanilla, just plain old vanilla, with lots of chocolate syrup and nuts and of course a cherry on top. But no whipped cream because I'm on a diet.
Another friend, Sherry, writes this Ode to Vanilla, dedicated to her son Zack, the little old man in a Kindergartener's body: My favorite ice cream flavor is Vanilla. After years of wandering, experimenting, and shamelessly indulging in a variety of lesser frozen fare, with the help of a 4 foot little old man in a Kindergartener's body I have had an epiphany. Call it plain if you so choose but the plain fact from the eyes of a purest is Vanilla has no serious rival. It does not seek to win you over with promises of a marriage to fruits or nuts. Vanilla doesn't need you at all. Vanilla does not judge you for your rebel heart when you salivate towards the rainbow sherbet. Vanilla does not mock though you offend your pallet with complicated concoctions such as Rocky Road, Cherry Garcia, or heaven forbid Chunky Monkey. Vanilla simply waits. Vanilla knows that some day you will tire of your straying ways and reach for a feng shui solution to your craving for iced cream. To know the simple joy of a cup or cone of vanilla ice cream is to understand the reason for ice cream. It is much like the stillness we are deprived of in this world. The quiet balance we are unaware we crave. Vanilla is substance without flash. Vanilla is plain, it is just plain Love of ice cream, no apologies.
