20060510 Yellow

20060510 Yellow

Abused, afraid, alone, he wandered the apartment complex where we lived. One door looked inviting, open. There were cats there, and they could get free, but they weren't running? He decided to investigate.

Wow - there's food here, and it's warm, and they pet you, and everything! Yellow still ran in terror if you spoke to him sharply, but gradually the memory of his previous life faded, replaced by companionship and warmth and love, and lots of playmates. Times were good.

It was a quiet life, with toys and catnip, good food, places to hide, good pettinng, and oh, yeah, stuffies and pillows to mate with. Fixed? Who ever said that would matter?

Affectionate from beginning to end, he never let the abuse in his life stop him from being very, very sweet. Hyperthyroidism and diabetes still didn't slow our Yellow cat.

After some 16 or 17 years, Yellow decided it was time to sleep. He couldn't eat that much, and our last act of kindness was to take him in and let him sleep. He passed with his family by his side, hearing words of love.

He will be missed and loved by all who knew him.
